Having spent a weekend of wine tasting in Napa Valley, a group of friends decided that two days just wasn’t enough. One thing led to another and soon the idea of a shared vacation home became a reality for 5 of the original 10.With a long list of “must haves” the search for the perfect property began in earnest.
Months of diligent searching finally paid off when a couple of the owners discovered a long, tree-line gravel lane that led to a hill overlooking not only Napa, but Mount Tamalpais and San Francisco Bay as well.
Remick Associates was commissioned as architects as well as general contractor for the project.
“The idea was a large, simple barn form that repeated over and over.”
The program called for 3 private suites for the owners and plenty of communal spaces for gathering. Each suite consists of sleeping, bathing and relaxing areas outfitted with finishes and fixtures suited to the individual tastes of the owners, enabling them to create a private hideaway by merely closing the door. In addition to the shared living and dining rooms, kitchen and theater, there are ample outdoor spaces to take full advantage of breathtaking panoramic views and superb climate.
The patio area complete with spa, outdoor cooking center and an infinity pool that seems to flow directly into the valley view are perfect spots to soak up the sun during the day and watch the shooting stars that streak across the sky at night.
